‘Tis the Season: A Holiday Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs

Dec 5, 2021 | Blog

The holiday season is upon us.
For most entrepreneurs, this is your busiest period of the year. Where large companies have dedicated departments to undertake every aspect of their holiday strategy, small or micro businesses are usually joggling it all on their own.

Don’t panic! Listed here are a few tasks that you can incorporate to make the holiday season favorable for both you and your business.

⦁ Make LISTS and check them thrice

Jean de La Fontaine, Seventeenth-century French poet and fabulist aptly stated, “One of the secrets of getting more done is to make a TO-DO List every day, keep it visible, and use it as a guide to action as you go through the day.”

Never underestimate the power of lists. They are very important in keeping you organized, especially during a hectic time. By creating relevant lists, you can prioritize what needs to be urgently done which offers much more clarity when tackling tasks.

⦁ Stock up or get inventive

What is one thing that you don’t want to happen? Running out of your much needed supplies or raw materials to fulfil orders. For product-based businesses, monitoring your inventory and ensuring it is properly stocked is crucial. The pandemic has caused a host of issues, especially with regards to supply chains.

If something cannot be sourced, it will affect the entire operations of your business. Think of ways you can utilize something else or tweak it to work for you.

⦁ It’s OK to ask for or need help

As entrepreneurs, we generally push ourselves to the limit and the holiday season is no exception. This is not always productive. Delegating tasks and projects to other employees or outsourcing duties to other parties can be more effective.

For instance, delivery or customer service can be outsourced to other companies or a virtual assistant. This can immensely lighten your load, especially, if you are crafting your own items and may not be able to manage all aspects of the business.

⦁ Schedule ME time

Burnout is very real for non-business owners, but for entrepreneurs, it can be amplified during the holidays. Neglecting yourself can lead to feelings of overwhelming stress and exhaustion.

Exercises like meditation and a cardio workout or simply taking a break can be more productive for you and your business.

Demand for your time will only increase during the holiday period. Implementing these systems can make this season run smoother and be a successful one.

All the best for the season. If you require any assistance in your business; whether it’s 1:1 coaching or a particular business support service, connect with us here at Business Clinic Ltd.
