You may have heard that ‘cash is king’ ‘content is king’ and ‘usage is king.’ But let’s begin at the beginning. Customers are the lifeblood of your business. You would not exist without them; and in order to attract your customer, you have to understand:

• Who they are,

• How to serve them and

• What gets them to buy!

Who are you selling to right now? Are they moms, dads, single men who are starting their first job, young graduates under 35 years, a bunch of people just walking by?

Customers have more choices than ever before and businesses face increased challenges to distinguish themselves from the dozens or more of nearly identical or similar products and services.

So what is customer centricity? A customer centric framework puts the customer front and center in the organization’s strategy and activities. It is designed from the outside – in: defining who the customer is, what they care about and how they interact with the organization. Based on the customer’s needs, pain points, passions, problems, the organization then aligns itself internally.

Your view of your customers’ concerns will not match yours. To understand your customers’ needs, you have to put yourself in their shoes and focus on understanding their needs and their pains. See how your customers interact with your product, how they describe their pain, how they try to fix it or work around it. What other solutions or products are they using to solve their problems? Remember, you are not trying to pitch your solution or convince a customer of your offering. Just listen. Change is hard but worth it.
